Sophie went for her one-month check up on Friday and we found out she is in the 95th percentile for her weight (11.4 lbs) and 80th for her height (22 inches). Chris and I are so proud of her and the way she is growing and just so thankful that God has made her such a healthy little girl. The concerns about her abnormal heartbeat seem to be behind us, although we are due to go to the cardiology clinic at Children's Hospital this coming Monday so they can check her out again. We will be glad to get the "all-clear." Little Sophie has had a busy and full first 5 weeks of life and she seems to be enjoying every minute. We have been so encouraged by everyone's kind words, visits, gifts, cards and emails. Thanks you!! Chris and I are completely enamored with her. To be honest, we are still having trouble believing this beautiful baby is really ours! Despite the busyness of the past several weeks, we have all sorts of plans in the works for the summer. The whole family is feeling very excited about our trip to home to Hawaii in just a few weeks as well as our trip back to the Midwest in July. Not to mention all the wonderful friends coming to visit! This coming Sunday, Chris and I will be be celebrating our 7th anniversary. We are looking forward to a night out, just the two of us, and a chance to reflect on the last few weeks. I love him so much!! When we were married 7 years ago, we really had no idea where we would be now, but we committed to loving one another no matter what. Looking back, I am so thankful for what God has given us throughout the years and how He has strengthened our friendship, our committment and our marriage. And now, we have Sophie! What better gift could there be?

1 month old. Already!
May 21st means that Sophie has been around for a whole month already! We can't believe that that much time has passed so soon and so quickly. Janelle went back to work on Monday, and I have been Mr. Mom all week. I wasn't quite sure what to expect (as I have never done anything like this before in my life), but so far so good! It really mostly consists of a three-to-four hour repeating schedule of bottle-feeding, playing (which is mostly just me talking or singing to her while she fusses), and sleeping (most of which requires her to lay in my arms rendering me useless to doing anything else, i.e., household chores--as she often won't stay asleep if I lay her down in her crib until she is fully asleep). Then when she starts to wake up, I have to get the next bottle warmed up, and the cycle starts again. She seems to be getting bigger, but we won't have her official weight and height (I think calling it "length" is silly) until we get to the pediatrician's office tomorrow for her 1 month check-up. We are very curious. Janelle weighed herself with and without Sophie on our scale (which is hardly a very accurate way to weigh her) and found that she should be approximately 12.4 lbs. We'll see tomorrow though! Meanwhile here are a few more pics for you to check out!
